Beyond skyline 20157/14/2023 ![]() ![]() In fact, it sounds like how the aliens fight will actually be a big part of this film. There's no word on who Ruhian will portray in the film.īut the cool thing is they're both acting as fight choreographers on the film. The role was written with Grillo in mind as O'Donnell, who also wrote this script, says Grillo is great at playing a "throw-back action hero battling his inner demons while outwardly kicking ass.” As for Uwais, he's playing the leader of an underground resistance that forms after aliens touch down on earth. ![]() In the film, Grillo will play a detective who fights to free his son from a terrifying alien warship. In fact, despite the title, Variety says Beyond Skyline is actually being developed as a standalone film, so it's more of a spin-off than anything. However, now it's the original film's writer and producer Liam O'Donnell at the helm, and there's a chance it just may get interesting with The Raid stars Iko Uwais and Yayan Ruhian taking roles. Variety has word that the Captain America: The Winter Soldier star is set to lead Beyond Skyline, a sequel to the better-off-forgotten 2010 sci-fi thriller Skyline directed by Greg & Colin Strouse. But Grillo will also get a chance to team up with the cast of the original foreign action hit. "Over the summer we learned that Frank Grillo would have a role in the remake of The Raid, which is scheduled to begin shooting in January of 2015. This is a Variety article giving more information: I was always under the impression that it was a big budget studio release, but I guess that shows just how good the special effects were in the first film."įrank Grillo, Iko Uwais, Yayan Ruhian and Antonio Fargas have been confirmed for the film. I also never knew that it was an indie film. I'll need to watch the first one again at some point to make a proper judgement on the film. Shooting is apparently going to begin in December. if you don't like the genre then don't bother and why rate it if you don't anyhow."This is slightly old news, but I only found 2 mentions of this film on Reddit, and that was before it officially went into pre-production. Definitely give this film a shot if you like the genre. So I'm intentionally rating this a smidge higher than I normally would because of what I perceive to be unwarranted disapproval. I genuinely liked this movie a lot, not Shakespeare but a good, original alien action flick that was totally enjoyable to watch. they used the tropes to push the story forward and then abandoned them like the cheap " : 's" that they are. Yeah there was some basic tropes in it but never once did the film dwell in any of them. ![]() Not to mention what Jean Claud Van Dam made a child actress say about the size of his wang for one of his films. The kid was for the most part, silent which was refreshing to say the least because we all know how Hollywood likes using children as sock puppets to preach to the adults in a film to promote whatever schlock their peddling, usually ultra liberal caa caa. Not once did we have to sit through the, mommy, mommy, mommy repeated at us like Hollywood usually does. The child aspect was not trite, sacrine nor overly cliched like every dang show in media lately. Great catch phrases like, everything burns, effing Americans and finally effing Aliens were well delivered and not overdone. I absolutely adored the Martial arts fighting brother and sister that we meet halfway through. It wasn't predictable at all, creature features were original and their methods somewhat graphic to good effect. It had a smidge of corn ball but nothing compared to the terminator movies. I don't understand why this movie has such lacklustre reviews. Finally I get to give a positive review about something! I don't understand why this movie has such lacklustre reviews. ![]()
